A Message from The Chapel Steward
No doubt most of you reading this will be aware that our Methodist Chapel in St Breward has not been open for worship since the first Covid19 lockdown. Sadly we have to say that unless a miracle happens it will not be opening again. The cost of insurance alone, not to mention maintenance is, beyond sustainable for the few of us who met there for worship on Sundays.
Methodist services still take place at St Tudy and Camelford and several other chapels round about but we would love to have been able to keep St Breward Chapel open for worship
We are so grateful for all the support we have had for various functions from the people of the village and surrounding areas, including the Christmas plays by the school and we thank you all sincerely. It meant so much to us.
I started writing this article a couple of days ago when it seemed everything was at standstill. Then on Wednesday 25th January I heard that an Estate agent was coming the next day with the view to the Chapel going on the market. So at this time of writing we are waiting to hear what the guide price will be.
We would dearly love to see our Chapel put to good use within the community, but that would take a huge amount of work and commitment by many people to make that a reality. Any brave souls out there?? Also the fact that the Chapel will be sold by Tender makes it even more difficult so, sadly it’s hard to see a way forward.
Whtever happens to the Chapel building in the future we just hope and pray it will be put to good use and a real asset to the village.
The building may have closed for worship, but our faith in God lives on. We praise Him for all that is past, and trust Him for all that’s to come.
May God be with you all
