The Coffee Morning is in support of Deirdre Stapleton (daughter of local residents), who is running in the London Marathon, fundraising for Children with Cancer UK. Although Deirdre is not a runner, she was motivated to do this after her young nephew died from brain cancer in 2020. Being a cancer nurse herself she is very aware of the need to develop better treatment options and hopefully, one day, a cure for the children affected by this terrible disease.
