News from the Community Cafe
The Cafe in the Memorial Hall at Limehead, is usually open on the first and third Monday afternoon of the month 1-4pm, serving both sweet and savoury items.
Cafe will not be open on Monday 1st July – we will all be at the Football Club enjoying a Soup & Sweet Lunch 12noon-2pm as part of Carnival Week

News from the Moorland Community Cinema
The cinema is in the Memorial Hall at Limehead. Doors open 1.30pm, film starts at 2pm.
Films usually shown on the first Saturday afternon of each month
The next film is on Saturday 29th June when we are kicking off Carnival Week with The Boat that Rocked (2009) 15 – A bunch of rogue DJs set up Radio Rock, an illegal radio station on a boat, and stand up to the authorities who allow only classical music on the airwaves

Following the film, tea and cake are served in the Reading Room.

The weather is definitely improving and we have three upcoming garden visits
Monday 1st July – Trethew, Lanlivery. Beautiful garden with splendid views.
Sunday 14th July – A pop up visit in the village to Phil & Gilly’s garden – weather permitting
Monday 22nd July – Marsh Villa in Par.
The Community Bus is available for the visits to Marsh Villa and Trethew. Both leaving St Breward at 9.30am.

Ash Tree Open Day Saturday 29th June, 11am – 4pm 
This will be held at Sunnybank Farm, PL30 4LP,  to launch the Ash Tree Project – a celebration of Ash trees through art, craft and greenwood skills.

Blisland Blisters Sunday Afternoon 9th June
Do join us next Sunday, 9 June, for a walk led by Matt and Lindsay.  We meet at 2pm at the end of the Leaze track, PL30 4NN.
Matt writes: “we have two options for the walk depending on the weather and who comes, so will decide on the day. Either way it will be across the moor so suitable clothing and footwear. Refreshments back at ours afterwards!

’Drawing The Stones’ Workshop, Lunch & Talk Tuesday 18th June
This workshop funded by Feast Cornwall (part of Creative Kernow), is part of Mayes Creative’s  ‘Heritage Pathways across Sky and Land’ Project. and  offers a chance to experience the raw nature of the carefully selected and placed ancient stones at Stannon Circle through tonal drawing with simple materials.

Led by artist Peter Beeson, celebrating the work of astronomer and photographer Mary Lockyer, we go out and enjoy the stones in a different way through drawing. This creative workshops can be of interest to either an enthusiastic beginner or a more experienced artist., all  materials provided

Meet at 10.30 at Stannon Stone Circle, (approx 2.5 miles from St Breward), for approx 2.5 hours, then to the Memorial Hall for a light lunch  and a short talk and presentation by Creative Kernow’s resident archaeoastronomer Carolyn Kennett who has recently written a book about the Stone Circles of Bodmin Moor. She will speak about her findings and alignments found at the circles etc. and answer questions.

News from St Breward School                                            Well done to our incredible year 6 students! Just before half term, they completed their SATS exams. We couldn’t be prouder of their resilience and amazing attitude. Well done Year 6!                                                                    Seahorses Class enjoyed a visit to Bodmin Library. The children listened to stories, explored the library and completed a Book Bingo quiz. All children have been given their own library card to visit any Cornwall libraries. They can borrow up to 12 books at a time!

Ash Tree Open Day Saturday 29th June, 11am – 4pm       An Open Day at Sunnybank Farm, PL30 4LP to launch the Ash Tree Project – a celebration of Ash trees through art, craft and greenwood skills.
This is the first of several events with an Ash theme and an invitation to get involved or simply come along for a cup of tea and a chat about trees. With Ash dieback expected to kill 95% of our Ash Trees, this is an opportunity to find out more about the disease, and the vital role the trees have played in our history.
There will be: Storytelling with Susan Samm. Pinhole Photographs – an exhibition. Handcarved spoons, bowls and coracles. Tea and cake (proceeds going towards the local Wildlife and Conservation group). Donations of cakes would be much appreciated contact Jo Best 01208 851544

There will be a small “Plantation” of forked Ash poles, planted in the field, painted red, yellow, black and white, with opportunities to get involved in this ongoing art project or find out more about it.  Parking is very limited so please park in the village and walk down Sunnybank Lane
