Highways & Byways  – Water Runoff in Penvorder Lane           The problem with water runoff in Penorder Lane (Rostalek/Penvorder Cottages area) was reported by the Parish to Cornwall Highways in April 2024.

This is the latest update from Cormac

The problem might have been caused by a heavy lorry/tanker dislodging a kerbstone in front of Rostalek and breaking a pipe underneath the road
Cormac have put a camera down to look at the drainage in that area and confirms that the blocked drain by the entrance to Penvorder Cottages is also part of the same problem.
This is not a simple cheap problem to sort out and will require a planned road closure.
Due to current financial constraints this work cannot be carried out until after the start of the new financial year, 01 April 2024′

The planned road closure in Penvorder Lane during February is at the request of Wildanet and is nothing to do with the water runoff problem

St Breward’s Just Giving Table –                                         ‘Give what You Can, Take What You Need’
In January 2023, with the support of the Parish Church, the Parish Council set up and sponsored the Just Giving Table.  In December Councillors agreed to continue the sponsorship until March 2024. The table is located inside the Church, just to the left of the door to the Bell Tower; the Church is usually open daily usually 10am- 4pm
The idea remains the same – Give what you can, Take what you need.

Donations are always welcome. The table was set up following guidelines from The Trussell Trust which is a non-governmental organisation and charity that works to end the need for food banks in the United Kingdom.
If you are making donations please remember that the items need to be non perishable and do not need a lot of preparation. Items that can be prepared with just the addition of hot water or minimal cooking seem to be the most popular. Personal hygiene items are also needed.
We hope you will feel able to support our community through the winter and that by next spring the table will be self sufficientIf you would like to make a monetary donation to support the table the Parish Council’s bank details are: sort code 30-98-98 account number  01814701 with the reference Just Giving

ST BREWARD COMMUNITY SHOP LIMITED
OWNED AND RUN BY YOU, FOR YOU

Happy New Year from all of us on the Management Committee!

Planning permission – you can view our application and supporting documents for change of use of Business Unit 1, Chyryn Drive, on Cornwall Council’s online planning register: Click Here to View the Planning Application

The 3-week neighbour consultation period will have closed by the time you’re reading this.  However, at the time of writing there were 26 public comments on the website, and 100% are in favour.  So, thank you, St Breward, for rallying and showing your support!

The Parish Council held a public meeting on 11 December to discuss our change of use planning permission application.  Support was unanimous from those present, subject to this being ratified at the next formal Parish Council meeting, as it was not an official agenda item.

Finances – we have transferred money from our temporary Lloyds account to our new Co-operative bank account, which kindly allows free everyday banking for Community Benefit Societies; non-standard charges apply.

Please get in touch (details below) if you have not yet received a receipt for your loan or donation.

We estimate that we need to raise at least another £25,000 to get the shop up and running with essentials.  We are hoping that we can raise some of this from grants, however, some grants will need the shop to be already up and running.  So, it’s likely that the majority will need to come from the issuing of community shares.  Therefore, we are currently getting ready to be able to issue our ‘share offer’ once planning permission is hopefully granted.

When the shop is open, we can then explore grants for further improvements and developments, for example a café space and solar panels (subject to planning permission etc).

Fundraising – we’re aware of an exciting fundraiser in development for next year.  Please get in touch if you can help with a fundraising event – big or small, every little helps
