With the easing of restrictions these Newsletter/Emails will now be dated rather than numbered. They will continue to be available on this website and as hard copies on the Parish Council noticeboard at the top of Row Hill.

Carnival Speciall

With no traditional Carnival this year, the Carnival Committee have come up with some ideas for Carnival Time.

 

 

 

Nagini the Carnival Snake  will be wending his way from School to Churchtown via the School Lane footpath. Look out for Nagini’s head on the Footpath from today and put painted stones to make his body – this is for children of all ages!

 

Annual Scarecrow Competition Theme is Marvel – so there should be some very interesting Scarecrows this year. Entry forms from here, the Carnival Facebook Page, or from Carnival Secretary Sharon 01208 850191 stbrewardcarnival@stbreward.net
Return completed entry forms to the box in the shop or to No1 Row (opposite The Chapel) no later than noon Saturday 26th June. All Scrarecrows must be erected by noon Saturday 26th June and must contain some straw

 

Deck the Doors!!  Or windows, gates, entrances, wheelbarrows – anything you like!
This is something completely different and the Carnival Committee would like to include all the Deck the Doors and Scarecrows in a Village Trail for everyone to visit.  Please let Carnival Secretary Sharon know by noon Saturday 26h June if you will be doing ‘Deck the Doors‘ so you can be included in the Village Trail map  01208 850191 stbrewardcarnival@stbreward.net

St Breward Carnival

‘not the biggest Carnival in Cornwall but certianly the highest’

Carnival Christmas Cheer  Well it was a funny old year so St Breward Carnival decided that we all need some Christmas Cheer!!  The community has always supported Carnival events and activities and this year the Carnival Committee did their own version of the Postcode Lottery to show their appreciation of this and to cheer everyone up

 

There was no entry fee and the prizes were 40 yes 40!  £25 gift vouchers to be redeemed at St Breward Stores, The Old Inn, Nicolas’s Mobile Catering and Button Meats

A Random Number Generator App was used to ‘draw out’ the house names of 40 lucky recipients. With just over 400 households being eligible (excluding Second/Holiday and Carnival Committee members homes), there was about a one in 10 chance of winning a voucher!

The draw was made in early December and the successful recipients were socially distanced visited by a Carnival Committed Member who delivered the vouchers

Reindeer Food Supporting the Christmas Lights Group and to ensure that all reindeers were fed on Christmas Eve, the Carnival Commitete provided 130 bags of Reindeer Food which was distributed round the village mainly through School

The Carnival Committee are already thinking about Carnival Day 2021 which hopefully will be on Saturday 3rd July

Carnival Week 2020 Cancelled

St Breward CarnivalIt is with sincire regret that this year, due to the current Corona Virus situation that this years Carnival will not take place.  This is not a decision we have reached lightly and is in line with ensuring we do not put anyone at risk

Therefore the all planned 2020 Carnival Week events including Carnival Day are cancelled

Everyone needs to stay safe and well during this unprecedented time so we can all come out other side a stronger community.  We will make every effort to ensure the Carnival 2021 takes place and will look forward to making it a bit more special for everyone.

Other events we are looking to oprganise later on in the year may still take place, so please watch this spece!!

Never too early to think about Carnival Week

The Carnival Committee are already planning for Carnival Week 2020, events confirmed so far:

Annual Scarecrow Competition, this year’s theme is ‘Sporty Scarecrows’.

Saturday 27 June – Pet Show in morning at the Village Hall and a  Family Fun afternoon at the Football Club

Tuesday 30 June – Annual Carnival Week Quiz at the Football Club

Wednesday 1 July – Soup & Sweet Lunch in The Chapel, and in the evening,  Johnny Cowling in the Carnival Marquee at the Football Club

Thomas & Friends at the Flower Festival

Thomas and his Friends on the Carnival Committee were pleased to support the wonderful St Breward Church Flower Festival – they are now off to the Carnival Safari Supper on Saturday 21 September.

This year the Mian Course will be a ‘Roast’ – Roast Beef with all the trimmings, Chicken wrapped in Bancon or Vegggie Curry and Rice.
