Introducing the first St Breward Carnival Mayor and Mayoress – Rhys Keen-French and Sophie Sutton
Breaking with a tradition going back in St Breward to at leat 1913, this year we have ‘retired’ Carnival Royalty and moved forward with a Carnival Mayor and Mayoress. Rhys and Sophie, traveling on the Carnival Float wil lead the Procession on Saturday 6 July.

The Scarecrow theme is Pirates. All Scarecrows must be erected by noon Saturday 29 June. Entry forms from Carnival Secretary Sharon No 1 Row (opposite the Chapel). Entry fee £1 and all Scarecrows must contain some straw!!

The Carnival Committee are holding their AGM in the Memorial Hall on Wednesday 20 February commencing at 7pm and extend a warm welcome to anyone interested in helping with St Breward Carnival 2019. Lots of exciting oppertunities to be part of a dynamic team dedicated to fun and fundraising!!

After a very hectic and enjoyable Carnival Week the committee are now looking forward to Thursday 13 September when we will be holding our Annual Quiz at the Football Club commencing at 7.30pm.. We are grateful to the Club for hosting this event and to Jon and Julie for once again organising the Quiz.

As 2018 is the thirtieth anniversary since the Carnival was restarted in 1988, the Scarecrow theme this year was ‘Pearls’. The winning Scarecrow ‘Pearl Diver’ was made by Judith & Sonia

St Breward Carnival, the highest Carnival in Cornwall and on Saturday 7 July certainly the place to be – England won their quarter final game and the sun shone for the Carnival. 2018 is a special year for the Carnival Committee as it is thirty years since the Carnival was restarted in 1988 after a lapse of some 20 years.
A colourful cavalcade assembled at Rylands and then travelled for a mile to the Football Club – a distance of a mile. This year the procession was led by St Breward Silver Band returning to marching after a break of some eight years.
The Marquee on the football pitch was the setting for the presentation of cups and trophies to the many and varied entrants who included visiting Royalty from Bude, Launeston, St Neot and St Tudy and a surprise visit from Donald Trump. The lovely long summer evening was enjoyed by all with families sitting in groups on the football field with the children enjoying the bouncy castles and having their faces painted
Carnival Committee Chairman Denton Bourne was delighted by the turn out ‘we are a village carnival celebrating life in our village and we welcome everyone who comes to join us for the celebrations. The Carnival Committee is very grateful for all the help and support during Carnival Week’.
