Extradordinary Meeting of St Breward Parish Council – Tuesday 20h June

An extraordinary Meeting of the Parish Council will take place on Tuesday 20th June at 7pm in the St Breward Institute & War Memorial Hall (Memorial Hall) at Limehead PL30 4LU.

The Parish Council will receive a Presentation from the St Breward Stores Steering Group.

Members of the public are welocme to attend

Prior to the start of the meeting there will be an opportunity for members of the public to discuss any items that feature on this Agenda with the Parish Councillors.
If any members of the public wish to discuss any other items – they will be considered for next month’s Agenda

St Breward Carnival needs more members!  We’re looking for 4 more people to join our revitalised team.

When funds allow we give donations to local organisations, mainly focusing on child/youth groups and activities.  This year, we have given donations to: Stay and Play, Brownies, Guides, Messy Church, Football Club, School PTA, Silver Band, Rylands Play Area, and the Coronation Community Picnic.

This year’s Theme is ‘Under the Sea’ and the only rule is the Scarecrow must contain some straw!
Entry forms can be downloaded via the green button below or collected from the box on the front gate of No 1 Row (opposite the former Chapel)
Entry forms (with £2 entry fee attached) must be returned to No1 Row by noon on Saturday 24th June.  Scrarecrows will be judged on Sunday 25th June and the winners announced on Carnival Day

Community Questionnaire about a Community Shop in St Brewad

The Steering Group is now starting to evaluate the information from returned questionnaires and although all completed questionnaires should be returned by Friday 16th June, it would be really helpful if they are returned as soon as possible

St Breward Stores – A New Beginning
A questionnaire asking the community their views about a community shop in the Village has now been delivered to around 500 properties in the Parish.  If you, or someone you know, has not yet received a questionnaire, please phone Christine Lusby 01208 850517 and request a copy to be delivered to you

If you would like to print a copy of the questionnaire please telephone Sara or Hazel Burrows 01208 850749 who will email you a copy

In order to proceed to the next stage the completed questionnaires need to be returned by Friday 16th June

Classical Concert at Lavethan, Blisland  Saturday afternoon 10th June

An afternoon classical concert this Saturday 10th June by a lovely group of wind players called Harmoniemusik, quite well-known in Cornwall among classical fans since they have been playing for many years at the St Columb Festival.

Harmoniemusik are presenting a varied programme of music from the 18th -20th centuries.

The concert begins at 5pm, but from 4pm they will be serving tea and home-made cake (included in the ticket price of £12) and visitors are invited to explore the beautiful gardens surrounding Lavethan.

Concertgoers can ‘pay on the day’, but booking in advance helps with catering!!

Carnival Week Saturday 24th June – Saturday 1st July

The Carnival Committee have organised a busy, fun filled Carnival Week – no prizes for attending all events, but hopefully there is something for everyone!!

A full list of events is on notice boards round the Village, on the Carnival Facebook Page and will be in the next community email

Annual Scarecrow Competition
The theme is Under the Sea – and  the only rule being the Scarecrows must contain some straw!!
Collect and return entry forms to the box on the front gate of No1 Row (opposite the former Chapel) with £2 attached
Entry forms must be returned by noon on Saturday 24th June.  Sunday morning 25th June, Scarecrow location maps will be in the box on the front gate of No1 Row and on the Carnival Facebook page

Johnny Cowling Wednesday Evening 28th June
Johnny Cowling will be in the Carnival Marquee at the Football Club,
Tickets are £12 in advance or £15 on the door if there are any left (last year tickets sold out before the day)

Parish Council Meeting

The June Meeting of the Parish Council will be held on Monday evening 5th June in the Memorial Hall at Limehead PL30 4LU, commencing 7pm.

Prior to the start of the Meeting there will be an opportunity for members of the Public to discuss any items that appear on the Agenda with all the Parish Councillors. If any other members of the parish wish to discuss any other items they will be considered for next month’s Agenda

St Breward Stores – A New Beginning

Following a recent Public Meeting about the impending closure of St Breward Stores & Post Office, a Steering Group has been set up to investigate the feasibility of opening a community shop in St Breward.

An important part of the early process is the requirement to ask the community of St Breward to complete a questionnaire on the need for such a facility in our Village.  The answers given in the questionnaire will be used to seek funding and guidance towards setting up a formal undertaking to open a community shop in the Village

Within the next few days the questionnaire will be delivered by hand to the nearly 500 properties in the Parish, please do fill in the questionnaire and return it to one of the following:

St Breward Stores & Post Office
The Old Inn,
Moorgoods in Penvoder Lane,
Hill Meadow postbox, situated on gate next to the school sign

History Group Wednesday Evening 31st May

Everyone welcome to the History Group meeting in the Village Hall. Three Members will be speaking on three very different subjects.  The AGM will be held following the talks, complimentary refreshments and raffle

Digital Inclusion Course for iphone Users

Since the Autumn of 2013, the Trustees of the Memorial Hall, have been organising various Internet/Computer training sessions

Following a grant from Awards for All  (part of The Big Lottery), the Trustees will be holding various courses throughout 2023

Currently there are two places available on the i phone users Course which is being held on Thursdays 6th,13, 20th and 27th July 10.30-12.30. with 6 people being the maximum number on each course
