The Parish Magazine is Back!!

The Parish Magazine are pleased to reveal that following the call for help for a new Advertising Contact, the Team have been joined by Keith. He can be contacted on parishmagadvertising@outlook.com so if you have any queries about placing an advertisement, please do contact him about the new rates and sizes etc.

The next edition will be a March Issue. Therefore, send your contributions to the St.Breward Village Contacts, (Hazel and Sara) on stbrewardparishmagazine@hotmail.co.uk by Thursday 17th February at 6pm

There will be a BINGO NIGHT, to celebrate the relaunch and to raise funds at The Old Inn, St. Breward on Wednesday 2nd March. That night will be the first opportunity to buy the next issue, after that it will be available from St. Breward Stores and Blisland Shop. If you have any prizes that you would love to donate to the Bingo Prizes or the Raffle, please do get in touch with Hazel and Sara

 

Interested in Family History Research?

Many people are thinking about Family  History Research and the committee of the Memorial Hall are planning to make the Hall available once a week in order that people can come together to share their knowledge and collectively help each other.

Interested and want to know more?  Come along to the Memorial Hall at Limehead on Wednesday afternoon 2nd February at 2pm when people can gather to discuss how they might proceed

Queens Jubilee Celebrations –  How shall we celebrate?

The Parish Council are calling a meeting on Monday 7th February at 5.30 at the Village Hall to discuss the Queen’s Jubilee Celebrations in the Village

For previous Jubilee Celebrations this has been a good starting point to arrange some very successful events.  Anybody with ideas and is prepared to help organise or be involved please come to the meeting.

We look forward to seeing you at the meeting which we hope will be the start of a really enjoyable event in which the whole village will take part

First Aid Training

As part of ongoing First Aid Training for pupils, St Breward School PTA has engaged  ‘Daisy First Aid’ to run training classes at the School in late January.

The PTA has also arranged for Daisy First Aid to run two sessions in the Memorial Hall on Saturday 29th January, for members of the community to learn first aid or brush up on their existing knowledge.  

The sessions are 10:30-12:30 and 13:30-15:30 maximum class size 18 people, cost £20 per person

Each session will include:  CPR (adult, children & baby) Recovery positions, Choking Febrile seizures, Anaphylaxis, Meningitis awareness, Fractures, Burns, Poisons, Bleeding and Head injuries

To book a place, contact School secretary@st-breward.cornwall.sch.uk  giving your contact details and which session you would prefer. Places will be assigned on a first come first served basis, and once your place is confirmed payment of £20 per person will be required.

Christmas Lights – Can anyone help with storage facilities?

The Christmas Lights Group are reaching out for some help in storing some of their Christmas decorations. With the closure of The Chapel they no longer have access to storage in The Chapel.

Can you help?  The decorations need not all be stored in the same place but the storage area needs to be dry and not susceptible to damp

Community Cafe

The Community Cafe in the Memorial Hall is open every first and third Monday afternoon of each month, 2-4.30pm. The Cafe will next be open on Monday afternoon 17th January.

Community Newsletter – Tuesday 21st December 2021

Would you like to have a new job and contribute to a village amenity?

St Breward Parish Council is looking for a new Toilet Cleaner/Caretaker for the facility at Row St Breward.

The post holder will work 5 hours per week and is expected to unlock and lock the toilets on a daily basis and ensure they are clean, replenished and fit for purpose.

The rate of pay is £12 per hour, closing date for applications Saturday 8th January 2022

Community Newsletter Thursday 16th December

News from the Parish Church

 The Christmas Fayre held on 11th December was a great success and £600 was raised for church funds.  Check the Church Porch for further Christmas bric-a-brac.

No morning Service 19th December

Carol Service Sunday 19th commencing at 5.45pm

Recorded carols, sadly no singing in Church, handbell ringers, mulled wine and mince pies.  The plan is to sing the last carol outside the Church

Christmas Eve Service of Holy Communion commencing at 8.30pm.

Christmas Day No Service in St Breward Church, some of the other Churches in the benefice will be holding Services

All welcome to Services and events in the Parish Church, face masks to be worn and hand sanitiser will be available.

The first church event of 2022 is the Hot Chocolate Morning on Saturday 29th January in the church.

Community Cafe Monday afternoon 20th December

The Community Cafe in the Memorial Hall will be open on Monday afternoon 20th December 2-4.30pm.  Nigel will be driving the Community Bus round the village to take people to the Cafe, departing Churchtown at 1,45pm, returning when the Cafe closes

Monday 20th December East Cornwall String Orchestra

The East Cornwall Youth String Orchestra will be playing in Blisland Church on Monday 20th December at 6pm (45 minute concert).  This is a free concert of Christmas Music

The Parish Council is aware that over the last few weeks flyers advertising an app/website called  NextDoor (www.nextdoor.co.uk), have been delivered to homes in the Parish, including one purporting to come from a ‘Denis’;  the Parish should be aware that this is not Denis Lusby, the Chairman of the Parish Council.

The Parish Council does not know the authenticity of, nor does it endorse, this app/website and would advise Parishioners to think carefully before signing up to unsolicited apps/websites without carrying out due diligence.
